Founder of Ontogony | Psychologist | Spiritual Teacher | Author
With over 45 years of research, study, and clinical experience, Dr. Carlos de León pioneered personal transformation and transpersonal development. Holding a Ph. D. in Clinical Psychology and Holistic Medicine, he founded Ontogony. This comprehensive model integrates Western and Eastern psychology, multi-faith spiritual traditions, and scientific teachings to support healing, growth, and liberation.
Through Ontogony, Carlos has developed a unique approach that blends body-mind psychotherapy, meditation, martial arts, chi kung, shamanism, alternative healing, and the study of paranormal phenomena. His vision extends beyond traditional psychotherapy, offering a universal tool for expanding human consciousness.
Having studied directly with renowned and extraordinary teachers across various spiritual traditions, Carlos de León holds a position as Head of the Shaivist lineage, Anandanamah (Kashmir, India), is a Swami in the Aghori tradition of Sriman Narayan (India), and serves as the lineage holder of the Kaula Yogini school of Maa Parvathi Nath Saraswaite. His extensive knowledge includes Ayurvedic medicine, multiple martial arts disciplines, and a broad range of esoteric teachings.
The accomplished author with eight published books, Carlos has lectured and taught in Mexico, Spain, Canada, Greece, Israel, and Guatemala. His teachings weave transpersonal psychotherapy with tantric wisdom and deep spiritual inquiry. Today, through Ontogony's online learning platform, his work is accessible to a global audience—offering a bridge for both new seekers and advanced practitioners.
Carlos de León founded Ontogony with a vision to preserve and revitalize certain ancient spiritual traditions, which were fading, even disappearing in the modern world, seemingly “irrelevant”. He recognized a need to adapt these teachings and to make them accessible, inclusive, and practical for contemporary seekers.
Challenging traditional structures, Carlos sometimes describes Ontogony as a form of "spiritual hacking”; the open sharing teachings once considered secret, not requiring adherence to any specific lineage. He believes spiritual wisdom must evolve, transforming into unified and relevant paradigms for today's world.
Deeply curious from an early age about human consciousness and transformation, Carlos’ formal training began at 15. By 18, he was already teaching—an experience he now sees as both bold and essential for learning. Over the years, Carlos’ journey has reinforced his conviction that humanity's spiritual revelations are like pieces of a vast puzzle, waiting to integrate into a more significant, universal understanding of existence
Ontogony offers individuals a transformative journey of self-discovery, profound evolution, and awakening to their highest, most authentic True Self, empowering them to embrace their fullest potential and live with purpose and clarity.
"Spiritual wisdom is not universally considered 'open-source' technology—but it should be. Knowledge must evolve, transform, and become more inclusive, or it risks
fading into irrelevance."
